The UCI Math Circle is a year-long math enrichment program open to all middle and high school students. UCI Math Circle strives to build in each student love and appreciation for math and develop each student’s critical thinking skills.
The main goal of the UCI Math Circle is to enhance appreciation of mathematics, and teach interesting mathematics not covered in a typical school curriculum. Participants are actively engaged in sessions of problem solving, specifically designed to empower their mathematical thinking skills.
Warning... side effects of participation include
having fun, meeting other students who are passionate about
mathematics, and learning some awesome math!
For the 2024-2025 academic year, we will begin the Fall session meetings on October 7th through March 3rd, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Please subscribe to our email list at the top left! This way, you will receive weekly announcements and receive the zoom link for our Math Circle meetings.
During each session, students will work collaboratively in small groups on a mathematical activity/puzzle/game with other attendees under the guidance of experienced UCI math professors, graduate students and teaching assistants. This year only, there will be only one level of the UCI Math Circle. However, the activities explored during each session can be understood at many different levels. They are accessible so that beginners can make observations and experiment mathematically, but deep enough to challenge the most advanced math students. At the end of each session, students will be given challenge questions so that they can continue their explorations on their own after they leave.

Currently the UCI Math Circle has no sponsors. To keep the UCI Math Circle running, we are kindly encouraging donations from families of participating students. The suggested amount of donation is $160 per student per quarter (roughly $20 per lesson), but we are grateful for whatever you can give.
