Pacific Rim Geometry Conferences
|
|
The first
Pacific Rim Geometric Analysis Conference was held in Hong Kong in December
1992. The main purpose of the conference was to bring together researchers from
Pacific Rim countries that are interested in areas related to geometry. The
conference served as a mean to disseminate the most recent research
developments and to cultivate working relationships among its participants.
The success of the Hong Kong meeting garnered enthusiastic support in having
future Pacific Rim Conferences in a continuous and rotating basis. This
resulted in the next few Pacific Rim Geometry Conferences held in Singapore
(1994), Seoul (1996), Vancouver (1998), Sendai (2000), Hong Kong (2002),
Shanghai (2004), Murramarang (2006) and Taipei
(2008), respectively. The
coordinator of the Pacific Rim Geometry Conferences welcomes suggestions and
requests on future meetings. The general format is that the host institution
is responsible for security of funding for the conference. Any institution
located within the broad definition of the Pacific Rim area is welcome to
submit a request to become a host. For inquiries on hosting a future
conference, please send an email to pli@math.uci.edu.
The
next meeting, 10th
Pacific Rim Geometry Conference, will be held in Osaka (Dec 1-5, 2011)
and Fukuoka (Dec 7-9, 2011). Interested
participants can check on the above link for updated information on the 10th
