Math Circle Program UCI , Fall 2000


The purpose of this program is to develop critical thinking and problem solving abilities by solving math problems given in different major math competitions. It will prepare students All California Math Competition and UCI Cosmos Math Competition.

Students 4 - 12 grades and parents are welcome.

Our first meeting will take place October 7 th 10 a.m.. Rowland Hall 188.

The next meetings will be: October 21 st , November 4 th, November 11 th. On November 18 th we will have a small competition. The winner will be announced in January and prizes will be given.

Depending on the students we will have 2 or 3 age groups. The meeting with each group is going to last no more than 90 minutes. The precise schedule will be announced on October 6 th - we usually meet with younger students at 10 a.m. and with more advanced at 12 noon. A homework will be given every time - a help from parents is encouraged.
